By Ian Bennett, University of Georgia | July 22, 2022According to a new study by researchers in the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, replacing coal in Georgia’s power plants with woody biomass could not only meet Georgia’s power needs, but reduce carbon emissions.

Even though certain aspects of the proposal still remain unclear and should be better formulated in the upcoming period, the European State Forest Association (EUSTAFOR) generally welcomes the efforts of the European Commission to contribute to the continuous, long-term, and sustained recovery of biodiverse and resilient nature across the EU by restoring ecosystems.
