NAIROBI – Denmark has agreed to grant Kenya 1.4 billion shillings (about 17.3 million dollars) to support environmental programmes, Environment Minister Kalonzo Musyoka said.The funds will be disbursed from January 2006 over a period of four years, Musyoka said in a statement. The programmmes include revitalizing "the role of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) in environmental management and by extension ensure that Kenyans live in a clean and safe environment," he added.
NEMA is a state-run body charged with managing and protecting the environment
